In 2023, my partner and I planned a summer vacation trip from Lower Michigan to Wisconsin that first took us as tourists to Sturgeon Bay for a week during the popular Door County Plein Air Festival. The following week we proceeded northwest to Lake Superior to paint and participate in the Port Wing Plein Air Painting Festival. We had a wonderful time sightseeing and painting, and returned last year to participate once more. And so, here we are again in 2025.

I’m a recently retired teacher with a background in antiquated photographic processes. Since retiring in 2021, I’ve been revisiting my earlier interests in painting and have participated in several classes, workshops, and group shows exhibiting both oil painting and digital infrared photography. I’ve also had an ekphrastic poem published in an exhibition catalog.

I’m quite fond of the Port Wing event and glad I can participate and meet so many talented artists and local individuals again this year.
