How The 2021 Festival will Be Managed Given the Covid Pandemic
Updated May 2nd, 2021
These should be done in the week before the exhibition on August 7th.
In order to submit paintings, the artist will, take a picture of the finished canvas in front of the scene painted. We will also need a second photo, suitable for posting online without editing, of just the finished work. Photos will be emailed to email@example.com or uploaded on the website, www.portwingpleinair.com
Artists will be required to register online. As long as the event remains virtual, the event will be free or very inexpensive.
The exhibition will occur online at www.portwingpleinair.com starting on August 7th and continuing for a length of time that will be announced later.
At this point, we are not planning to judge the exhibition or award prizes.
Things are fluid. We would like to be able to judge the exhibition and award prizes. We would like to invite artists to work in Port Wing. We would like to have an in-person exhibition. We would like to have receptions for the artists. We will inform artists via email about changes if they occur. Changes will also be posted on this website.
Obviously, this is the reason for the changes in the Festival. Last year things were too uncertain and the entire thing was canceled. This year, lots more is known about the virus. Its spread. Its virulence. Its effects. And there are vaccines.
Unfortunately, there are variants.
More is being discovered about ‘long haul’ effects.
There is a lot unknown. The unknown unknowns.
This week, the CDC said vaccinated people could travel. In the next paragraph they said they wouldn’t recommend travel.
We are monitoring the situation. Changes will be made if new information warrants.
