Port Wing Plein Air Painting Festival

Outdoor painting followed by a wet-paint exhibit and sale

Event Summary

Artists are treated to receptions each evening offering an opportunity to network with other plein air painters.

Paint Thursday and Friday. Saturday morning is an optional Quick Paint Event in which the artist has 90 minutes to complete a painting in the harbor area. After the Quick Paint, artists have an hour and a half to finish framing their works and bring them to the Town Hall for hanging and judging. The exhibit is open Saturday from 3:00 pm to 7:00pm. Awards are announced around 3:15 pm. The exhibit is open again Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Artists can remove their paintings after 1:00pm. You will be signing a liability waiver when you sign in on Thursday..

Juried Exhibit and Wet Paint Sale

An experienced professional does the judging and makes a presentation at the exhibit opening. Artist’s works are available for sale with a 20% commission going to the Festival. Space is provided for artists to sell their prior works as well as those freshly painted works on exhibit. No reproductions of any sort can be exhibited or sold at the exhibition.

Works created during the Festival and displayed in the exhibit must remain hanging until the end of the Exhibit, Sunday, August 2nd, 1:00pm, even if sold. Works not created during the Festival may be removed when sold.

At the exhibit there is room for artists to sell works unrelated to the festival. Please check these works in at the Town Hall prior to Saturday. No reproductions of any sort can be exhibited or sold during the Festival.
